Temple of Zeus

Temple of Zeus

Acrylics on masonite, box framed (24 x 32")...$2500

This one took a month and remains one of my favorites; it's hung in my living rooms since I painted it in 1972. To me, it represents both the order and chaos in the universe, and how some things may look reasonable but they turn out to be nothing but illusion, and pass. Often when I painted something like this, I had no preconceived image in mind, I let the work flow intuitively.

This is your best piece of work. "The Temple"is very refreshing to look at. One's best work comes without effort.

thanks for all the nice comments on Zeus - the titles may be a little much, but I didn't like "untitled #36" much either.. so I just started using the names of the ancient gods.. seems appropriate for worlds not our own..

I always thought that if we can imagine it, its out there in the universe somewhere, otherwise we're now "Creators" ourselves.. kind of pretentious?

I appreciate all the comments! I'll try to post more of my art..

Enjoyed your art work here on your blog. Loved 'Cells' & the colors you used - I didn't know water color pens existed either. Always had a thing for watercolors and their transparency - a difficult medium to work with. Nice blog!
